Present positions
•    2003 - present:  Young researcher l’IBIMET-CNR (Institute of Biometeorology - National Research Council).
•    2010 - present: Young researcher at LaMMA Consortium (Modelling and Monitoring Laboratory for sustainable development) of Tuscany Region.
Research interests and expertises
•    Study and implementation of drought monitoring and forecasting systems and impacts assessment.
•    Models for detecting areas prone to desertification.
•    Climatology.
•    Study of forests carbon fluxes and their relation with climate variability; carbon balance between vegetation sinks and human sources.
Expertise on drought monitoring techniques through the implementation of several climate-based and satellite-derived indices; analysis of impacts of climate variations and human activities on the environment (above all referred to desertification processes and carbon cycle). Technical expertises on:
•    Geografic Information Systems,
•    Interpolation techniques of climatic and environmental data,
•    CO2 fluxes measurements using Eddy covariance technique.

Projects and experiences

•    Responsible of the drought monitoring and medium-long term forecast service of Tuscany at LaMMA Consortium.
•    Involvement in the “Azione di sistema: Un patto per l’acqua. P.I.G.I. 2012-2015” Project (2012-2013), financed by Tuscany Region (Del. 29 Ottobre 2012, n. 962), for the training of tutors, environmental operators and teachers as expert on climate change, drought, water resource and water footprint.
•    Involvement at the LaMMA Consortium, in the “Focal-point Kyoto” (2010-2011), financed by Tuscany Region, for the CO2 sinks and sources monitoring and for defining the carbon balance at different scales.
•    Involvement in the “Osservatorio Kyoto” Project (2005-2009), financed by Tuscany Region, for studying energy and gases exchange of a typical Tuscan forest using the Eddy covariance technique and their relation with climate change; implementation of the carbon balance (sources minus sinks) of Tuscany as support for the action plans preparedness and sustainable development proposals of local and sub-regional Administrations; management and diffusion of related cartography.
•    Involvement in the “ICE - Studio di fattibilità tecnica per la predisposizione di modelli di protocollo per la riduzione di emissioni di CO2 equivalente” Project (2009), in order to identify “agropedoclimatic parameters useful for the  characterization of Grosseto province”.
•    Involvement in the Agenda 21 Locale - area fiorentina Project (2008), Florence Municipality, as CNR-IBIMET contact person and scientific partner, expert on greenhouse gases emissions, in order to identify “Guidelines for a regional system of common indicators of local sustainability”.
•    Involvement in the “La carrying capacity: teoria e applicazioni per il dimensionamento della pianificazione in Toscana” Project,  Working Group “Turistico2 - Progetto per la valutazione della carrying capacity turistica nell’arcipelago toscano” (2008-2010), financed  by Tuscany Region, as expert of green house gas fluxes analysis.
•    Involvement in the “DESERTNET - Programma INTERREG III B – MEDOCC, Asse 4 Misura 4” Project (2004), as tecnical and scientific expert  of methodologies for the identification of areas prone to desertification  through the definition of climate, soil, vegetation and socio-economic indicators more suitable for Tuscan area.
•    Involvement in the “Scenari climatici futuri a supporto alla valutazione degli impatti sull’agricoltura toscana” study (2004), ordered by ARSIA - Regione Toscana, to define interpolation techniques of climatic data and elaborate a map of climatically homogeneous areas of Tuscany Region.
•    Involvement in the DISMED - Desertification Information System to Support National Action Programs in the Mediterranean Project (2003) as expert of MEDALUS methodology for the identificationof areas prone to desertification in Mediterranean Basin.
