  • Fabio Maselli è nato l’8/12/1961 a Firenze. Ha conseguito la Laurea in Scienze Naturali nel 1985 e la Laurea in Scienze Biologiche nel 1987, entrambe presso l'Università degli Studi di Firenze. Sempre presso la stessa Università, nel 2004 ha conseguito il Dottorato di Ricerca in Biosistematica ed Ecologia Vegetale.
  • Dal 1986 svolge attività di ricerca riguardo all’uso di dati telerilevati per il monitoraggio della vegetazione, sia agricola che naturale, a diverse scale spaziali e temporali. Negli ultimi anni ha rivolto particolare attenzione all’integrazione di dati telerilevati a diversa risoluzione all’interno di modelli di simulazione di ecosistemi forestali ed agricoli.
  • Nel 1988 è stato assunto come ricercatore a contratto presso lo IATA-CNR (attualmente IBIMET-CNR); nel 1996 ha vinto presso lo stesso Istituto un posto di ricercatore permanente. Nel 2001, a seguito di concorso nazionale, è stato promosso a Primo Ricercatore, ruolo che sta attualmente svolgendo sempre presso IBIMET-CNR.
  • Ha partecipato come responsabile scientifico a diversi progetti di ricerca finanziati da enti nazionali (ASI, Regione Toscana, Ministero della Ricerca Scientifica) ed internazionali (soprattutto EU). Fra quest’ultimi i principali sono RESMEDES, RESYSMED, CAMELEO, FOREMMS, e-ECORISK, CIOMTA.
  • Durante la sua attività scientifica ha pubblicato oltre 400 lavori su riviste ed atti di convegni, fra cui circa 80 articoli su riviste internazionali ISI di telerilevamento e monitoraggio ambientale (H-index = 20, ISI Web of Knowledge).
  • Svolge abitualmente attività di reviewer per le più prestigiose riviste internazionali di telerilevamento, come Remote Sensing of Environment, ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing, International Journal of Remote Sensing, European Journal of Remote Sensing. Per quest’ultima rivista è membro dell’Editorial Board.
  • Ha infine collaborato con l’Università di Firenze svolgendo corsi di telerilevamento e monitoraggio ambientale per la Facoltà di Agraria e per quella di Scienze Matematiche, Fisiche e Naturali.
