STUDIES

November 1989 – December 1996

Graduation in physics at the University of the studies of Milan, Italy. Final evaluation: 105/110.
The gradutation thesis has been made, thanks to Erasmus fundings, at the Department of Astronomy and Geophysics G. Lemaitre of the University Catholic of Louvain-la-Neuve, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, under the supervision of Prof. Guy Schayes.

Graduation thesis title: ‘High resolution numerical simulation of polar katabatic winds using different turbulence closure schemes.’

August 1995 – July 1996

Researcher at the Institute of Bio-Meteorology of the National Research Council CNR. On duty at the LaMMa consortium (Laboratory for Meteorology and Enviromental modelling, web-site: www.lamma.rete.toscana.it). Supervisor: Prof. G. Maracchi.

Main tasks: Weather forecaster with operational shifts 7/7, responsible for the management of the operational modelling chain, operational models verification.

October 1998 – May 2003

Technician at the Physics Department of the University fo Genova on duty at the Meteo-Hydrological Center of Liguria Region (CMIRL, web-site: www.meteoliguria.it). Supervisor: Prof. C. Ratto.

Main tasks: Weather forecaster with operational shifts 7/7, research on operational numerical modelling.

September 1997 – September 1998

Scientific collaborator at the Ecole Politechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland. Supervisor: Prof. H. van den Bergh.

Object: “One way nesting techniques on numerical mesoscale atmospheric models”

Project based on the fundings of the fields campaign LOOP – PIPAPO (Limitation Of Ozone Production – PIanura PAdana Produzione Ozono).
